The hospitality industry is particularly sensitive to criminal activities, given the transient nature of guests, easy access to semi-public areas, and guests' unfamiliarity with their surroundings. However, much of hotel security is focused in the building itself rather than around the perimeter. In this session, we'll discuss the role of license plate recognition (LPR) cameras in bolstering hotel security in the parking lot, where just under 10 percent of all violent crimes occur (per National Institute of Justice reporting). LPR cameras provide a crucial layer of protection by capturing and analyzing license plates in real time, identifying known suspect vehicles or vehicles associated with trafficked persons, and alerting security teams proactively. LPR technology also provides critical evidence when a guest or employee reports that a crime has occurred, leading to an actionable investigative avenue for a detective. This session will detail best practices for deploying intelligent technology like LPR cameras in a layered approach to strong perimeter security in hotels of all sizes.
